Frieda is preparing dinner. They’re going to have veggie burgers today. Borg doesn’t like the smell of his veggie burger and wants to check out what’s wrong with it. He opens the microwave oven and things get out of control.

veggie burger = a food that looks like a hamburger but that is made with vegetables instead of meat
the early bird catches/gets the worm – used to say that people who start or arrive before others are more likely to succeed
revolting = extremely unpleasant or offensive
examples:
a revolting [=disgusting] smell
The first picture that he sold was quite revolting. It showed a dead body hidden in the bushes.
The Bad Smell
have your eye on sth = watch sth closely

On Fire
formication = a sensation of sth creeping on or under your skin
on fire = in the process of burning
example:

put out = cause sth to stop burning, extinguish

You can’t smoke in here! Please put out your cigarettes.
Third-Degree Burn
third-degree burn = a severe injury caused by fire, heat or chemical substances
example:
She suffered a third-degree burn. The doctors are doing all they can to save her life.
blister = a raised area on the skin that contains clear liquid and that is caused by injury to the skin
example:
I hate these shoes. Yesterday I developed a blister on my heel because they rubbed against it.
The Doctor is Coming
a couple minutes = a couple of minutes (in informal language)
ointment = a smooth substance that is rubbed on the skin to help heal a wound or to reduce pain or discomfort
example:
Put some ointment on this cut. This should help.
do/work wonders = help or improve sth greatly
examples:
I think this book will do wonders for your mood.
The new experimental treatment is supposed to work wonders on my skin. We’ll see.
stupor = a state of extreme apathy resulting often from stress or shock
What the Veggie Burger Might Have Caused
nausea /ˈnɑːzijə/ = the feeling you have in your stomach when you think you are going to vomit
examples:
I sometimes experience nausea when flying.
She suffers from frequent waves of nausea and nobody knows why.
constipation = the condition of being unable to easily release solid waste from your body
example:
There are often side effects like nausea or constipation.
