The verb TO TRUDGE means to walk slowly and heavily because you are tired or working very hard:

She was trudging through the sand straight into the ocean.

We trudged along the muddy path up the mountain.

The carol singers trudged through the snow from home to home.

I watched the ant trudge through a thick layer of dust.

We all trudge through life – no one ever promised it was going to be easy.
