The expression TO KICK BUTT or TO KICK ASS means to succeed or win in a very impressive way:

He kicked ass in another chess match.

Her costume kicked butt at the party.

Show them how good you are, go and kick ass.

Be respectful, but kick butt.

It also means to use force to achieve some purpose:

If they don’t stop bothering me, I’ll go there and kick some butt.

She’s a good boss, but she can kick some ass if necessary.

Why didn’t you send me the final report? Do I really have to kick some ass?

They’re not listening to me. I think I’ll have to go there and kick some butt.

Yet another meaning is to attack and injure sb severely:

He said he would kick your ass if you lied to him.

He’s looking for you and he’s mad. I think he’s going to kick your butt.

If you don’t do it right away, I’ll have to kick your ass.

Finally, it means to defeat sb easily or completely:

They got their asses kicked in the tournament, but they’re not going to give up.

She kicked your butt at tennis again. You must practice more.

I’ll kick your ass at swimming.
