Learn English Through Stories – A Ghastly Figure

Here’s a story about something scary someone once saw…

Man: It was one of those wakeful nights in late November. Unable to sleep, I went for a walk and there it was, that ghastly figure standing in front of me.

Man: I decided to take to my heels, but, overcome with fear, I couldn’t move. All I was thinking about was the eerie glow coming from the specter.

Man: Who or what are you? Are you a ghost? Why are you hiding in this murky forest?

It: Don’t be afraid. I’m not a ghost.

Man: Oh, really? What are you then?

It: You haven’t slept well lately, right? You were exhausted and blacked out. I’m your dream.

Man: That’s possible. Most of my dreams suck.
