Borg and Bree must kill time. They are fans of a TV show and are waiting for the next episode to begin. In the meantime they get bored, so they do some fun stuff. Although it’s only for fun, Borg must necessarily prove that he is better than his daughter and then something terrible happens.

kill (the) time = spend time doing sth while you are waiting
examples:
I killed time by reading a book.
We have some time to kill before the movie starts.
fun = amusing or enjoyable
examples:
This trip was a fun time.
You’re a fun guy. We love to spend time with you.
Your house is a fun place. You can never get bored here.
full of beans = full of energy and life
examples:
He isn‘t young anymore, but he’s still full of beans.
The twins are full of beans, so there’s always noise and laughter in the house.
Kev’s Selling Borg Short
sell sb/sth short = put too low a value on the ability, importance, or quality of sb or sth
examples:
I think you’re selling yourself short. You can easily find a better job than that.
You’re selling the movie short. I think it’s one of the best movies ever.
talk sb out of sth = persuade or convince sb not to do sth
examples:
He talked me out of quitting my job.
You must talk him out of doing it! He won’t listen to anyone else.
Lacking the Sense to Duck
fantabulous = marvelously good
example:
The scenery was fantabulous. Those mountains and lakes on the horizon!
have the sense to do sth = be aware of what is appropriate, have a good judgment of the situation
examples:
The king had the sense to surrender when he saw the enemy army on the opposite bank of the river. [=he acted in a sensible way and surrendered when he saw the army]
I had the good sense to stop before I said too much.
duck = lower your head or body suddenly to avoid being seen or hit
examples:
The ceiling was so low I had to duck my head.
I ducked my head so she wouldn’t see me from behind the fence.
The Head Issue
decapitate = cut off the head
examples:
The thieves were decapitated by the guillotine.
This morning a decapitated body was found in the park.
Back Into Place
abashed = embarrassed or ashamed
example:
You seemed a little abashed when they asked about your girlfriend.
into place = into the proper position
example:
She lowered her glasses then pushed them back into place.
give sth a try = make an effort or attempt to do sth
example:
You don’t know whether soccer is not for you. I think you should give it a try.
Kill Time – A Break from Routine
be about to do sth = be very close to doing sth
examples:
He is about to sell his house. [=he will be selling it very soon]
They are about to graduate from school.
can’t wait – used if you are very excited about doing sth or eager for sth to happen or begin
examples:
My wife is coming back tomorrow, I can’t wait!
The dog can’t wait to see his master again.
a break from routine = sth different from what you normally do
example:
His visit was a welcome break from routine.
